WHY? |
it is all about jesus"The King will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me'" -Matthew 25:40
Christ consistently showed God's love for His people by caring for the sick and poor. Joyas de Esperanza believes that working with women to develop a consistent and lasting form of income is following in Christ's footsteps by bringing hope to the hopeless. |
WHERE? |
Danli, HondurasArtisans of Hope is focused in a small, rural community just outside of Danlí, Honduras called the Urrutia Community. This community of about 1000 people was formed after many lost their homes and everything they owed in a severe flood in 2010. This community is still without access to clean water and sanitation. Also, because of its location outside of the city, opportunities for employment and education are limited. Despite all of this, what will strike you the most if you ever have the priviledge of visiting this community is the joy and love of the families living there.

WHO? |
Empowering Women of HondurasArtisans of Hope empowers the women of the Urrutia community of Danlí, Honduras. These women all struggle to provide for their families. They sacrifice daily so their children can attend school, eat a small meal and have a roof over their heads. Because of their small children, it is even harder for them to work since the city is so far away. Many women resort to making tortillas or collecting plastic bottles to sell back to the recycling company, jobs that require a lot of work and earn very little money. Artisans of Hope aims to provide employment that is family friendly where the women can work from their home and earn fair wages for their time. Artisans of Hope is now made up of two groups- 6 women making jewelry and 5 women making sewn products.
